| Why homeschool? |

| For that feeling you get when you set a goal and you achieve it, not even when you achieve it, when you are working towards it. The burst of energy that sustains you through long hours of hard work, the feeling that you are on the right path, that you are strong and capable, that you are making things happen in your life. That feeling, that you have to carefully protect against the naysayers who think you will never achieve that goal. That goal that you have to keep out of sight at first lest someone trample it while still too young and delicate to recover from rough handling. |
| Where in our society, in schools, do children get to experience the exhiliration of setting a goal for themselves, their own goal, and taking the time, and persevering through to completion? Homeschooling is about giving children that space, space for exhilirating hard work, towards a goal of their own choosing. I don't know about you, but I don't feel that way about goals that someone else has chosen for me. The goal has to be of my own choosing, from my passion. |
